He knows shyt and is talking shyt .

“Eskom needs to put in place a computerised system of preventative maintenance,” he said. “If we can find out about a tube leak before it happens, we can take it off [the grid] before it happens…

“The problem is that these machines are old – they were built without computers. The new ones have better computerised systems and are being built in the age of the internet of things.”

They have had mean time before failure stats and preventative maintenance plans for more than 20 years .
The turbines/generators are not made in SA they are supplied by huge companies that basically supply many countries in the world .

A 25.3% tariff increase will devastate our economy , he just does not get it like most people .
He will push the price so high his company will only be supplying the people who steal electricity and the ones that have no option .

^THIS!
By the time things are running again, those who can afford to pay for electricity, will have gone of the grid, as they can afford the outlay.

The number of sheep getting sheared are getting smaller and smaller. Same thing with e-tolls. The people I know that are paying e-tolls, are doing so because they write it off as a business expense and pass it on to their users. The same with electricity. Increased costs are passed on to consumers who don't have a choice.

And in the back the cadres are creaming of the top. Soon they will come for the wool in our ears.

"A week to forget!??" What an understatement.
How about: "A generation of corruption and incompetence."?

He may well be the right guy to sort this out. Time will tell. Unfortunately he's spending a lot of time on short-term and personal spin, whereas we are talking longer term issues and planning.

I'm also worried about Medupi. If it is is only on 500MW out of 800MW for the first generator, it will take years and years to make a real difference. Unit 6 (ie the first unit to be commissioned) should be up and running at 800MW by now and they should be bringing the 2nd unit online.
