A week with Apple ...

This post right here pretty much sums it all up.

I never even knew the camera button was never, never knew it existed until reading it now and going “heh?” and then needing to double check.

It’s literally been that simple to ignore it.

But somewhere in the world right now are a couple of hundred or even thousand people who love using WhatsApp’s utterly **** camera that way.

Hahaha, i also just looked at WhatsApp and was shocked to see a camera icon. Who knew

 same here - I was like "wtf, what camera button", then went to look and lo and behold, there it was. Never noticed it before - thanks @Dolby , now my brain will need to filter it out all over again.

The other thing that I noticed was something called "Status" - who tf uses that?

It reminds me of something I’ve learnt in service provision.

Even a novice service provider can find some or other fault/s in a professional’s perfectly working service provision.

It’s got 5 tabs versus 3 on Android.
Hmmm

Wait for it...

Android has it as well, it's the first of four tabs.

Oof!

Also, I hear a lot about the extra steps folks are forced to take on IOS, but to my mind having to tap on the search button before making a search, or the more options button before accessing settings forces you to take steps not required by this:

Yep, I don’t necessarily think either way is better of worse, it’s all about what you are used to.

I use a Samsung A50 for work calls to overseas numbers once or twice a week and still have a problem wondering how to open the phone. Face ID seeks to need a press of a button first and entering a PIN number needs a press of “ok” after entering. Weird to me but second nature to Android users.

As said in this thread many times, forget the one OS and embrace the other knowing that it works differently and is not better or worse than the old system you left.

^ All of this.

Been on a Mac and iPhone so long now that my brain is mapped in IOS and MacOS and I get frustrated using an Android device or Windows machine 'cos the flows just seem wrong... but that's all on me, and certainly not the OS.

The reverse must apply too.

How do I see what WiFi network I’m connected to? The actual SSID

You don’t seem very open minded in your approach, and are actively fault-finding. That’s not a recipe for success.
Just wanted to agree with this. You are actively fault-finding and complaining at any opportunity you can. If you adopt a learning attitude maybe you'll get further with this.
