I'm not a huge follower of this particular series, but why can't the SABC show the races live??
Instead of the first race (sprint race believe its called) showing at 11:00 when it was on, SABC3 was showing the Isidingo Omnibus?! WTF is up with our public broadcaster? An international motoring event on our own shores and they show us Isidingo??
Gawd, I hope they sharpen up their act for 2010. Showing a damn soapie when heavyweights like Italy and England are playing is not going to go down well.

EDIT: I see is time delayed broadcast is on now of the first race. Well done SABC - I already know whose the winner thanks to News24.

maybe because SABC is in bed with ICASA/TELKOM/and our "glorious" Govern(ot)ment...

Good point, but then it irritates me even more. I pay Telkom a shytehouse of cash every month AND my SABC TV-License!

I also see a ticket to the event on a "platinum" stand costs R850!! Geez, suddenly sitting on my arse at home watching a delayed broadcast doesn't sounds like such a bad deal - seems like South Africans are suckers for rip-offs. Plenty of empty seats around the circuit though....

The SABC claim that they delay the a1 sprint race so they can put a better package together bunch of plonkers they are

And now they can't even show the interviews with the drivers IDIOTS

I was thoroughly irritated with the whole thing... I went last year and it was awesome, and then this year they jacked the prices of the tickets sky high...

Stupid profiteering, its so damn shortsighted.. :(....

The stands didn't look anywhere NEARLY as full as last year...

I kinda agree that the ticket prices this year were insane, especially if you look at the professionalism of the driving, and particularly pit work. The reporting by the SABC people was also a sham; I sincerely hope some of the comments made by them were not broadcast internationally as they were very bias and derogatory to some drivers at times.

I have read many drivers pull out of the series because of cowboy driving by other competitors, especially lower down the order and after looking at todays racing, I tend to agree. The insane maneuvers pulled off by some of those racers are even wilder than those made by Touring Car racers - the only difference being that a Touring Car does not have open wheels.

Then again, Sheik Maktum has some cash to splurge on repairing his toys. We pay R5.60+ for petrol!

SABC will only broadcast soccer, watched by millions(the majority of whom don't pay tv lic.), than broadcast Motorsport, watched by hundred thousands(the majority of whom does pay tv lic).:(

Lol, you have to worry when Hendrik Verwoed is the main commentator to anything :D

Had a great day personally, a bit too hot but other than it was a good day out with my oldman. I went last year and was on the bend at Brickhill/Argyle which from a photo point of view was alot better but sitting on the final straight, seeing the pitcrew meddle in the cars and the other assorted eyecandy made the platinum tickets worth it. Watching it on TV, even with the best sound system money can buy cant do experincing that roar in real life justice :D

Well, the rest of the world watched the 11:00 race live as it could be watched on streaming video from the website. Probably without the tribulations of Isidingo and those annoying Telkom ads.

Oh my gosh, he is the worst motorsport commentator/reporter ever (Vic Maharaj comes a very close second)! He probably has an high profile family member whose organising him a job on TV coz he needed to be gone a long time ago.

LOL!! I tried to wiki his name and I got taken to a page about the father of apartheid.
