Sometimes (very seldom) I learn something really cool and really new.

I have a tablet mouse/pen thingy - those who use them know what I mean. It uses a AAAA size battery. This 1.5v battery is VERY hard to come by and often costs a fortune (like close on a hundred for a two pack, if you can find them)

That's 4 As before any says AAA is easy to find.

So my battery ran flat and my spares have all been used and being unemployed, trying to find and afford spares sent me online to see how cheap I could get them. Lo and behold, a website showed me a trick to get them real cheap so if anyone else is ever looking for these hen's teeth - here's the trick. Buy an ordinary Energizer 9V battery. No, not Eveready - it has different cells. Grab some pliers and rip the terminals and the cover off. The insides is 6 - yes SIX - AAAA batteries in reverse polarity (the knob end is -ve).

I hope someone finds this as useful and economical as I have...

woah! AAAA!?!?!?!?!!! I've never ever heard or seen any of those yet! I just opened my pen for my tablet and I see it uses an AAA battery so I'm quite in the safe.

Not the case anymore.

so in the 7 years since this thread was started we have learnt:

1. Energiser make their 9v differently
2. The price of AAAA batteries have come down

Try other 9v batteries. I know eveready has the layered look in the above pic.

My table pen since I posted this has gone missing so I no longer need AAAA batteries.

My Boostaroo uses AAAA. Used to get them from Builders Warehouse. Have not been able to get stock in the last 5 years.
