I am just letting off steam .........

I ordered my adsl SERVICE A MONTH AGO, i called Telkom today to track the status of my application only to be informed the techs are busy with testing my application but it would be highly unlikely i wud be getting any adsl in so 3 mnts or longer time ......... something to do with ports blah blah blah. I asked about WIMAX and i was told point blank NO .......... CAN'T OFFER THIS SERVICE TO U

what crap service ......... why advertise when u can't provide a service to all

who can i contact to escalate this ........ PLEASE ADVISE AND HELP

Thx

I waited 7 months, woman have to wait 9. 1 Month or 3 months isnt long at all. Find something else to do in that time.

i aint a telkom fan. but ADSL has the lowest pings, and in general its the most stable of all internet u can have in SA.

But seriously, Telkom is losing alot of their clients to Wireless. Due to them being very cocky, and also them taking their sweeet bloody time to install ADSL for people.

I've got adsl for 3years now, i won't ever go back to Wireless (due to bad pings, and alot of issues *towers, downtime, Lagg, etc*) but ye. At the end of the day its worth the wait

I agree Napalm, good summary ;)

I live in a very small town, I won't mention it due to the fact that I have a sense of privacy, but I only waited 3 weeks after applying.

Best bet, do it a telkom shop, with friendly, helpful people.

I did it at a Telkom shop, but all the helpful, friendly people must have been on leave. Chap behind the counter would not let me apply for Closer 5 without signing a 24 month contract. So I had to apply for Closer 3 and ADSL separately. Got it converted to Closer 5 later by phone. After stipulating clearly on my applictaion "self-install", and re-iterating this fact several times over the phone, I still got billed for an installation charge.

I guess it depends which Telkom shop you go to since mine worked out pretty well.

I ordered mine over the phone and the next day went to the Telkom shop to pick up my "free" modem and had it up and running the same day, all of them in the shop were friendly and very helpful.

We got our ADSL router from our ISP and specified this on the techies job card but still got billed for a router  We did manage to get the charge revered the following month but had to pay the incorrectly billed account in full because the call centre said the system would automatically charge us interest on the outstanding amount which couldn't be reversed later  Very true that ADSL is the most stable and reliable internet service, unfortunately:(

Thats so that you understand that you are 100% at their mercy.

I've waited 2.5 weeks so far and am already impatient. *Watches paint dry*
