Something's changed in the past few days -- at least for me, using the Rosebank tower.

I can now log on in under 10 attempts without getting a 691 "username/pw not regonized".

Not only that, since the reset of the backhaul last night, I'm getting 800k regularly on the Telkom http speed test. Page loads are snappier.

Hopefully this state of affairs will now stablise and we can get down to using this internet instead of hassling about access technology.

its so typical, as i lose hope, they fix everything and now its better than i've ever seen it, bastards!

actually they told us that they did a firmware upgrade on the basestations, then they reset the backhaul and thats when it was awesome-ish, then on tuesday - friday they will upgrade UT firmware over the air and then cap us all.

What lasts long - the bad service? or crappy speeds? I have to sit with 'it' for another 20 months, but if speeds and service don't improve after the launch then I'll try anything to get out of this freekin contract.

Sorry to sound a bit backwards guys, but can someone post a link to the Telkom speed test. I've only donw international speed tests thus far, and would like to compare.

Thanks

Oi, stupid man.... the contract you signed was to tell iburst that you will pay off the modem in 24 months. return the modem you stop paying.

it's like buying a couch over an extended period of time, you return the couch, you stop paying

i'd love them to see try and make you pay for a debit order you signed as an agreement to pay off the "free" modem

About the guillotining of bandwidth - pray tell where didst thou hear such news...?

PS: Has everyone forgotten that SG (no, not Stargate) promised to tell us on a Friday gone by about the immenent bandwidth guillotining of us all...?

ok the last bit is speculation, but think about it, when I asked shaun about capping he said it would definatley not be the week up to today (13 March), but he couldn't comment on this next week, then I hear iBurst is upgrading the firmware over the air this week, which means by the 20th they will have upgraded everything. That leaves 11 days till April which is when the launch is happening, so since they love testing stuff so much I figure they would test thier capping system in the week and a half before April. If they dont test it then, then they must be pretty confident in that system already, meaning they would initiate the cap on a nice round number ie April 1st. So the way I see it, worst case scenario is we have 1 week of no capping left, best case... we have 2 weeks and 4 days

U are a fool number one when do u get time to do some work???

Nsofu, in english, the word "no" means the same as "nee" or "haikona" and the word "one" means "een" or "e-one"

no one = NO ONE which is not the same as #1 or #one or number one.

So, to use in a sentance (which your english teacher obviously forgot to mention while he/she was too drunk or hungover) :

no one gives a rats ass what you really think.

as to your question about when I get time to do some work. I usually work in bursts of 60 minutes with 10 minutes break periods inbetween, much like your "smoke break" without the toxin's entering my body or having to go stand out in the cold/rain or blistering heat to have a smoke.

I then do two things, I research what I'm busy with re: work, and I reply to stupid posts like yours.

Now, as to WHEN do I actually work, I work from 5am in the mornings till about 11pm at night. This is what makes it fun, because my work is my hobby and vica versa. So even though I don't keep busy with my actual job I get paid for between 7am and 4pm, I do work constantly which means I am on the internet alot (as that is an integral part of my job) which means I can type faster than the average loser (aka you) which means I can reply just THAT much faster....

okay fine good gone bye

Now the question remains whether you typed the reply slow enough for him to read? :D

depends on what you were doing with your connection at the time and wether you have a browser with multithreading enabled or not. but i'd say its nothing special
