AB would not have solved most of our current issues:
1. The fielding is atrocious at the moment.
2. The bowlers were not great in the first 2 games and we've had 3 injuries to key players (Steyn, Ngidi, Nortje).
3. The batting has been sub-par.
For me, the fielding & injuries are the bigger issues and AB was not going to solve that himself.
With regards to the batting, yes, he may have helped but I would honestly rather have Markram, Van Der Dussen, Miller or even Klaasen play, and get the experience, because we need to plan for the future (Faf is 34, Amla is 36, Duminy is 35 & AB is 35) even though it may cost us a chance at this world cup.
Lastly, there is literally no excuse for AB to have behaved in the way he did. By his own admission, it would be "selfish and arrogant" to say he wanted to play in the world cup so long after retiring. He either should have spoken up earlier or not said anything at all. He had multiple opportunities to change his mind but chose not to.
There are certainly issues/politics within CSA and with the selection process but we shouldn't try to use that as an excuse for AB. He was wrong and CSA were right to say no.
