The bank collapsed and cannot be saved. It was bled dry. I too would have left. In fact, I would never have taken this position in the first place.

Yap, saving himself some embarrassment. Cash out now and leave while there is still time.

You have always said no business can survive in SA and this once again proves it.
 
He's a far relative.

Time to pay him a visit I guess.
 
Just got the gist. Apparently retirement is not the reason he is leaving. Allegedly its because of incompetence and a bad attitude. Also, this played a big part (paywalled, but will look for a free version):
