Yeah. It would be nice if the bank(s) in question took the courtesy of replying to you.

Reply from Virgin Money (who use ABSA's internet banking interface):

Anyone can fake a "from" address. I asked them if they even had a look at the url: http://www.sadanet.or.id/ind/inter.php which is definately not legitimate. They simply styled their bogus form to look like that of ABSA's. They link directly to the images on ABSA's server e.g. https://ib.absa.co.za/ib/images/logo.gif

I can't believe that is Virgin Money's reply.

Edit: www.sadanet.or.id appears to be down and I just got an alert in Firefox warning me that the site has been reported as forgery. :)

How can the people at ABSA say that to you. Its insane.

Btw what about one time pins and all that stuff surely they can't log in to your banking because they don't have access to your one time pin.

Have a look at the sim swap fraud that has been occurring over the last few weeks.

There are now processes in place that inform you when your sim is being swapped so that you have an opportunity to query it. Additionally - if you get a service unavailable or no network type error then that is sometimes evidence of a sim swap and you should make enquiries with your network.

Its important to remember that although the One Time Password sent to your phone is not an infallible system, a fraudulent sim swap is useless unless your login details are compromised through another method like a phishing attack.
