This is not how I would usually do a transfer, but it was an emergency and I had little choice.

Those fees are criminal.

I am with Capitec! This was a family member's account, who does not want to move away from ABSA because she has an overdraft facility which is not available from Capitec.

Cash deposit: Absa ATM R2.50 per R100 or part thereof

Did you deposit around R 4480-R5k?
