1. Their site seems not to work this morning ... it hangs constantly, it does not open all the various functions, etc.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY BANK FEES? CAN YOU NOT EVEN RUN A PROPER IB SITE?

2. Battled to add an ABSA-listed beneficiary yesterday, called their IB section and got advice from them on how to do it.

After I did it (payment went through) they called me back to say they made a mistake re: the advice they gave me and will try to reverse the transaction to get the payment back into my account.

WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DO YOU GIVE THE PEOPLE WORKING IN YOUR IB SECTION? PLEASE USE MY BANK FEES WISELY TO GIVE THESE PEOPLE PROPER TRAINING !!

Um, Blu? I thought we established that Absa is the crappot of local banking. Why are you still dealing with them?

Between us, we have about 8 accounts and it is a mission to get them all closed. Working on it.

Does not mean I do not have the right to call them out everytime they mess up :p

Won't the other banks migrate the accounts for you? I know that FNB does that.

:(

I was told by four banks that they can't match ABSA's interest rate on my bond due to the current economical climate... So I am unfortunately stuck with them :(

+1

Moved from Absa to FNB...what a dream!
Their website works perfectly. and you get access to play lotto, and paypal and stuff, never mind the 15% back fuel!

Ditto - I'm very close to start making some calls - extremely frustrating - I wonder if they specifically wait until the most important day of the month to f&ck up?

Yes, that could be a problem with us too. We also have an overdraft on our cheque account and I am not sure if another bank would give us the same.

Ifi you call them (which I did a few minutes ago), they have a recorded message on their call centre line saying that they are having some difficulty with IB.

I do not think they specifically wait until the most important day of the month to f&ck up - I think their system cannot handle the overload of users. They shold have used our exorbitant fees to create a better system!

So keep your Bond there and move the rest.....Just a suggestion. You don't need to get a bond or vehicle finance from your own bank, get it where you get the best deal.

Its a One account - so includes the bond, credit card and cheque account - I can move my transaction banking away, but these three accounts will still be open, and I'll still be charged for them.

I've been with ABSA for many years (since it was still Volkskas) and moved away in May this year (because of IB problems and high banking fees). I am with FNB now, I think their IB is the best. They transferred all my debit orders for me, no hassle on my side. My vehicle finance is still at ABSA (not a problem).
And of course, you get eBucks at FNB.

(Did you know : All FNB workstations runs on Ubuntu and Debian)

Yikes, they got you there. Hook, line and sinker.

If you move banks, does it affect your credit record in any way?

Don't think so - as the credit details for your previous bank are still available.

It might be a small issue if you're asked for six months bank statements, but you can always give, e.g. 3 months of your previous bank, and 3 months of your current bank.
