I have ADSL 512K with a Web Africa 30gig account and I may as well have a stoopid 3gig and a 192kbps account for all the use I CAN get out of my account. Everything is crawling. Torrents out the windows, international browsing un-reliable even local browsing with the UUNET & IS debarkal is dodgy. Yesterday I could not use MSN and yesterday and last night I was unable to log into STEAM!

Surely Telkom can not hide behind "Telkom can not guarantee the quality of service!" I think Users should be credited until Telkom sort this problem out, why should I the end user have to pay for there incompetence?

yeah, i have also been experiencing erratic behaviour with my connection at the moment....what can I say.....TELKSKUM... i have phoned to lodge a complaint and all i get is my settings must be wrong on my side....

Lol

This is as a result of the shaping being done by Telkom to prevent you from using up too much bandwidth.

THEY ARE DOING IT INTENTIONALY - IT IS NOT A PROBLEM :D

UMMM I HAVE A ALLYOUCANEAT AND MY DAD HAS A AXXESS ACOUNT

and everything runs fine

torrents dont usually work for most ppl

you would be better of using edonkey
im getting 32.5 k/s now

in 17 hours i have download 1.1 gigs and given away 350 i think thats awesome

and bf 2 works great
i love my adsl line best thing thing ever

torrents are rubbish

http://www.shareprovider.com/ please be advised there are movies of porn on this link so if you are not over 18 dont click lol and you must have edonkey

My problem with the likes of eDonkey, shareza and Bearshare type programes is that people think it is fun to rename movies/iso's so you download a 1.3gig .... linux iso *cough* to find out it is something completely different.

What utter nonsense.

<sarcasm>49kB/sec on DSL 384 downloading a torrent with 39 seeds and 12 leechers is really rubbish isn't it?</sarcasm>

If you actually know how to configure your router/firewall/client correctly, you won't have any problems.

Is EDonkey not filled with spyware and stuff? If it isnt what version do you recommend?
Thx

I have ADSL 384 and a 30Gb account from Web Africa, aside from the Telkom/SAIX problems last Friday and Monday, Steam, MSN etc etc have all been working fine.

When downloading torrents I get really decent speeds at night, but battle to get anything during daylight hours. I assume that shaping is implemented more heavily during office hours. Am I correct?

I tried Emule, I have a good id (green both ways) but cant get anything down. I can upload at 25K no prob though hahaha.
Telkom owns me :(

I get the same (fast) torrent speeds day and night, assuming the torrent is well seeded. I highly doubt it's an isolated incident. Torrent speeds fluctuate due to numerous factors, so it's not a good medium to judge download speed/broadband performance.

Ive gotten quite good torrent speeds since ive been with web africa

On their 30 gig adsl account, I constantly get around 30+ KB/s down with Azureus.
