Johannesburg - Dozens of men have taken to the streets of Hillbrow, Johannesburg, to seek protection from their abusive wives, who regularly beat them up, The New Age reported on Tuesday.

"We have a database of men who have been abused from all social classes, including pastors, men from informal settlements and medium-to-low density suburbs," Moshate Men's Right Organisation spokesperson CEO Nashilo Mnisi told the newspaper.

The men marched under the organisation's banner at the weekend.

Mnisi said women were increasingly becoming more abusive towards men.

Research showed that "some situations had boiled over and men killed their families because their wives had been abusing them for a very long time", he said.

Hillbrow police spokesperson Constable Nkosinathi Mgimeti told The New Age that the march was joined by children who had seen their mothers abusing their fathers, and by women whose brothers were being abused by their wives.

"There are very few men who come forward to the police to report these, but we do have victims of men abuse."

During the march from Hillbrow to Berea, protesters chanted: "If we start fighting abuse against men, we are putting a stop to all forms of human abuses. Say no to men abuse."

Any forumites there? Or know any men in abusive relationships? It's about time we stand up against this.

Methinks this is probably what happened

Women who stay in relationships where they are being abused by their boyfriends/husbands usually use the excuse that they have to stay for financial reasons, etc. What is the men's excuse I wonder?

For married men the same...
Some will lose quite a bit of money if they get an divorce...

I have a friend who is in such a relationship. His wife is tiny and he is HUGE...he could probably break her in one hand, but he refuses to harm her. It's pretty fkt up, he nearly lost an eye once.

Why doesn't he defend himself without harming her then, i.e holding her hands or something? Shouldn't be too difficult being so huge, surely?

Some guys are just pu55ies, they won't hesitate to tell another guy off but totally wimp out when it comes to women.
