Hi guys,

I'm looking for a Duron or any bottom range Socket A Athlon. I built my cousins (12 and 14) a PC from second hand parts I had lying around, but the Duron 750 I have in there is a bit flaky and causes crashes, came out of a old PC that had a heatsink with dead fan so it probably got damaged by heat.

I can spend R180 max.

I'm also looking for a AC adapter for a OfficeConnect Hub. Its output requirements are 14V and 0.8A.

I'll pay R80 for that.

Would prefer if you are in PTA/Centurion/Midrand/Northern JHB...

For your skt_A action, go to Corex and browse their seconds display, round the corner from the support desk; I've seen a bunch of different CPU's in there and IIRC, the prices are smack-bang in your price range. You may also be in luck for your AC adapter action: I *think* they have a box of adapters that you can rummage through.

If that doesn't work out, you're into homebrew territory; in and of itself not particularly challenging. But for the sake of clarity - and build direction: if you need AC, just get a small transformer, small box to put it in and the other small bits needed to make a power supply. If you need DC, it gets a teeny bit more interesting, but not at all hard to do.

..so: what, for a flat-out-eyeballed-fact , are your power requirements?

Dont need the duron anymore, found a Celeron 1100Ghz and mobo for them, to bad it wont utilise DDR so they have to go from 384MB DDR to 512MD SD...

And yes, I need DC, Don't really need the adapter, but would be a nice to have...

I'll check out Corex. Thanks.
