AC/DC Adaptor for LED's

I'm building a project and need to run it from a wall socket. I'm using a 12v LED strip (variable lengths) but the current will always be under 400mA. What would be the most cost effective way to go about this? Maybe a 12v 500mA AC/DC adaptor? And if so where would I get those adaptors in cape town area?

Any of those variable voltage laptop charger / plug thingies will do. Any hardware shop will have them.
