Hey guys I have been eyeing on the new Android player from AC Ryan called VEOLO. I must say the 3-in-1 remote which is full RF with motion sensor and QWERTY keyboard looks impressive.

I am not a fan of connecting mouse and k/b to such devices as space is limited for me in the living room. Besides, I can’t find one Android player with such remote and also support 5.1 which is what I need. My kiddo can also play his fav fruit ninja now on TV just by using the motion remote ( Without having to purchase a separate gaming device for him :D )

Any one here has one or is already using it? It will be good to have your reviews on it.

Anyway found a demo video online - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KQKVbbir44

The product details are found here - http://www.acryan.com/product/veolo/

So still no Veolo adopters? I'm keen but the lack of feedback from Saffers is making me reluctant.

I almost bought one, but havent seen one local review. I was about to get the noontec A9, then saw the VEOLO for 2.2k at Wootware.

Still tempted, but like all AC RYAN stuff, you are never sure if it will get an upgrade (I.E: ICS)

It's even cheaper at Esquire, for R2050.

The upgradeability is also my biggest worry. What if they release the "Veolo Super Duper 5000" 2 months from now with a dual core processor (whose absence from the current Veolo is ominous) and ICS and decide to not upgrade this one with ICS? Eish, decisions, decisions.

When I initially saw it I had concerns about how you'd use android without a touchscreen but that pointer/mouse/remote thing looks pretty cool. Compared to other media players it looks awesome but I'm not quite replacing my xbmc/hpms anytime soon. Perhaps this is a good candidate for the lounge tv. I can mount my share on hpms and play from there.

Gah, I can't decide either.

I read their forums and their standard reply is:

" ICS is still new, and requires testing "

so, I reckon they'll just make the VEOLO Super Duper 5000, I know I would.

I'm sure you could root it anyway...whether you want to is another story :P

For me rooting goes without saying :D But I'd still feel pretty stupid if a dual (or even quad) core Veolo comes out shortly after I get the Mk1.
