So, after a few months of searching for a new job I finally got a positive call on Friday.
A start-up company in Newcastle-upon-Tyne offered me a job, which I gladly accepted. Looking forward to the new challenge!

So, anybody here know anything about Newcastle and the surrounds?

Don't wear a Sunderland supporter shirt, Mike Ashley name is not to be spoken in public.

You better start getting used to the Geordie accent and dialect. It's really hard to understand even for a native English speaker.

Congrats man, I'm glad you got a position.

Sad to be leaving the City of Light behind?

Thanks!

Yes, fell in love with Paris. It is a magic city and I cannot figure out why... If it wasn't for the language barrier, I would have stayed in Paris, but it will take me at least 2 years to learn the language and most companies require French.

That is the one problem, I don't watch soccer at all... guess that will have to change.

So from one language I cannot speak or understand to the next... Sure it should be easier than French :)

Don't need to watch, just be aware of what is going on - good for conversation.

Good point. All I know is that Newcastle FC isn't all that good.
But I think I will treat soccer discussions like talking about religion: I won't bring it up, but if you ask, I will give my opinion.

I wouldn't be that open and honest with the assessment of the team. Perhaps wait for one of the geordies to actually say it, and then you can politely agree..but also add something about how well they seem to be doing under the new manager.

Congrats and enjoy it.

You will have to Laaarn Geordie and get to like Newcastle Brown. A liking for Magpies will also help.

The definition of a Geordie is a Scotsman with his brains kicked out. But don't say this north of the Tees/Ex line.

Seems like its going to be fun the first while, until I get used to the accent and weird sayings...

Ha ha, I don't think I will be calling anyone any names, at least at first
