Peeps i would like to request feedback on a much talked about subject AUP.If i may use Afrihost as an example. People are always questioning the AUP issues of various ISP's. On the Afrihost uncapped accounts on offer page they have in very small bold writing an AUP. then just below that they have a table of all the so called BIG or Top downloaders. e.g

Speed Username GB's Used Monthly Cost Cost Per GB
40Mbps kh**********[email protected] 301.92 GB R1397 R4.63
20Mbps vf**********[email protected] 271.25 GB R997 R3.68
10Mbps mi***********[email protected] 1,766.85 GB R797 R0.45
4Mbps lo*********[email protected] 907.35 GB R397 R0.44
2Mbps an********[email protected] 643.56 GB R297 R0.46
1Mbps ar**********[email protected] 357.15 GB R197 R0.55

If i may doesnt this advert seem to be a contradiction. I do not personally have an afrihost uncapped account but when i enquired about the above figures i was told that i would not be allowed to use bandwidth in that fashion. If that is the case then why put the figures up for all to see in the first place.

Btw i would take a 4 meg account now if i was garuanteed download of around at least 500 GB per month.

regards

Sounds like false advertising then. ASA?

With that type of usage a home account isn't for you then. You need a business account.

Go OpenWeb. They won't give to you hassles about it.

In Jan I lost my 10TB RAID array (stupidity and ignorance) and had to download a k@k load of stuff back again.
My usage end Feb just tipped over 1TB and not a peep from OpenWeb.

This not the norm for me by a long shot, but proof that OpenWeb are the only true uncapped provider around.

Hi Chevron thats not the point bud. The ad says the following no one said anything about home or business.

4Mbps lo*********[email protected] 907.35 GB R397 @ R0.44 per GIG

And btw i do have an Openweb uncapped account. which has been going a bit on the slow side. So first want to check in with Openweb before i complain. They always been great so actually have a ticket open with them as we speak

A couple things.

If you go to their website you'll see that the home account is R397 and the business account is R697, which isn't too bad.

Which brings me to my next point.

What Openweb account do you have? You really should be on at least Silver, but preferably Gold.

Otherwise you're just one of those guys trying to get something for nothing.

I used over 950gigs on a 4mb account with afrihost (home account) last month and had no issues whatsoever from them? What is the problem?

I think you're missing his point, they're basically bragging what people are doing with their accounts, but then telling you not too.

...and Family/Home is normally person+1 and not you in your mom's basement
