I've been tasked with getting an access control for our 2500m^2 building. It just makes sense to me to use AD as a user store for this system, with user groups dictating which users have access to which doors. Anyone know of such a system?

I've gotten quotes in the R200k range that you have to enroll all the users in a seperate database, and purchase licenses for other databases (i.e. AccSys uses Sybase, which costs R35k). The pricing on the readers is pretty much spot on, but if I were to use AD as a user store, it would save me from enrolling 200 users (I know some of these systems offer import functions, but I don't want to go that route).

Hi There,
Edgeconnector as Franna suggested is one suggestion. If they are not in South Africa as your post suggests then why not contact them. They may have a South African distributor or access control partner that they work with.
You could always approach the different suppliers of access control and see what their suggestions are. One I know of is Controlsoft but there are plenty around.

Regards

Tim

Facility Commander Wnx is also a pretty good ACS that natively supports AD authentication.
