You seem to hold misconceptions about a GPON by making such a statement and assuming it is a GPON, more correctly being a PON as nothing points to it being a GPON.
There is nothing wrong with GPON or any PON related technology and it is the future of dense fibre infrastructure with the development and gradual uptake of NGPON2 and EPON as they reach cost effective price points.
The only problem with PON is poor implementation by an operator or understanding of its various derivatives.
OP the diagram is right by being point to multi point but the equipment names, form factors and topology are only half there.
