Access to personnel file

Hi,


does an employee have the right to access to his personnel file? And what are the requirements for this?

I searched this forum, and the net, and cant find relevant information.

Some employers keep personnel files for each employee, and also keep other personal information in these files, for example, disciplinary notices and records, training records, your original application for employment, as well as other records relating to remuneration, leave records, identity etc. You are always entitled to request access to your personnel file to see what information is being kept in your personnel file.

The HR Office may grant access, provided that the employee must read through the file in the presence of an authorized person i.e. HR Manager, clerk etc. Documents or other information on file may not be removed.
