I am looking at building a system which has to be relaivlty cheap..

Previously I worked on MSSQL server...

I am lookinf for a database server... for my devtime.. as the data access layer can probally be rewritten in a day.. I have been trying to us mysql.. but the erroe messages youy get are horendous..

error at line "x" .. I am considering going to acces as it give been support for develping and finding errors... Any oppinions on this ? anyone found and easy way to deal with mysql and parse syntax ?

Access is not even a database IMHO.

MySQL is most definitely the way to go without a doubt.

What has this got to do with Access? If you are looking for a FREE DBMS and you're familiar with MSSQL, why not look into SQL Server Express edition?

SQLite is a replacement to Access. PostgreSQL is a replacement for MS SQL Server. MySQL is sort of in between.

I like SQLite, because you don't need a server running to use it. It's the same as Access where you work with a file.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It's NOT the same as Access. Access is ***. *** I TELL YOU!!! BLASPHEMER!!!!

sqllite is way better than Access even though it also uses a file-based approach to the db. Much faster. Much more stable. Much more scalable. Has full MS SQL support (that I know of) and doesn't go corrupt at a drop of a hat.

SQLLITE IS NOT THE SAME AS MS ACCESS
