Hi All,
I need to access my work remotely through my adsl(Netgear DG834G).
I am accessing on ports udp1701;udp500 ie L2tp/ipsec.
My pc works 100% when I dial up through my ISP but through adsl.
I'm sure that I need to forward ports, I have tried an article from portforward.com but with no success ..
Any assistance ?
Thanx,
Julian

I have defined the inbound and outbound rules to use those specific filters(services)(UDP500;UDP1701;UDP4500((NAT-T)).
I'm sure the problem is residing on the RRAS box, IPSEC and NATting do have a long history.

Hi Julian
I have a netgear DG384GT, and innitailly I had a problem with connecting to my vpn server. The problem was not so much conneting to it, but more a case of once connected I couldn't do anything, i.e. my connection wasn't forwarding on to other servers. If this is similar to what you are expieriencing all you need to do is to open the ports on your firewall's incomming connection settings, and forward it onto you pc's static ip address, cause it seems like once authenticated the connection seems to be innitiated for both ends.

Hope this helps.

Rudy,
You're not far off ... Its turns out that L2TP/IPSEC has trouble with NATted IP's.This is true with dropping the session.I had to settle for PPTP utilising EAP-TLS(certficates which was a bitch to get working).LT2P does not support broadband.
Hope this lesson helps somebody.

Hi guys, I have a similar problem with my ADSL router modem. I've got DLINK's DSL-500G at home. I am trying to access my workplace's VPN and I can connect to it but I can't resolve the IPs of the machine in the network. But when I am surfing the net while connected to the VPN, it seems like my requests are routing correctly to the VPN's DNS.

My ADSL router's IP is 10.1.1.1 and my workplace's machines are all in the 10.122.0.* range. Does this cause any conflicts?

I am currently letting my ADSL router doing the DCHP stuff. As you can see, I am not very good at networking stuff, so please bear with me.

Can anyone offer me help? Thank you very much
