Accident mess

Whose responsibility is the clean-up of accident debris? There was an accident on the corner of Houghton Drive and the M1 this morning, big mess, still there when I went past at lunch. JMPD had crawled out of the bushes for the occasion but evidently took no interest in the mess. I guess if there had been some KFC boxes among the bits of car they would've.

I've actually never thought of that - I should imagine it would be the Roads Department on a highway and the municipality in a town or city.

In the Cape if it's a serious accident it looks like the fire brigade cleans up.
