Strange i have a 128gb samsung ssd and have no write problems at all and windows runs like a motherfu%^er.

Never experienced anything like the above article claims but maybe my samsung does not have the problem.

Based on AnandTech I'd recommend people either WAIT till JMicron/Samsung sort their issues out OR people buy Intel based SSDs. I'm curious also how Toshiba will perform as it uses a custom controller.

Yes peter because anandtech is amazing hey, samsung has mass produced ssd's in thousands of systems yet no recall?

Go look on google my friend and go see some video's of ssd's and maybe do some research before believing the first google hit you get.

I'll believe AnandTech sooner than I'll believe YOU. Thank you very much.

Ever thought anandtech is getting paid by intel to push their product?

Guess not, they would never be so under handed. Please find me some more sites that claim this problem is affecting every drive other than intel?

A big thanks to Patrick Norton for sending this information in — it seems that some of the cheapest MLC (multi-level-cell) SSDs on the market right now utilize a unified JMicron-controller design with Samsung memory. Anandtech’s founder discovered 1-second long pauses with his computing experience on his MacBook after dropping one of the new OCZ drives into his laptop and set out to benchmark exactly what was going on. The result was a 17-page article breaking down SSDs in their entirety and discovering what the issue was.

I find the word SOME a bit vague don't you peter? o wait you read it on the internet it must be true :p

Read the 17 page AnandTech report, dude. LOL.

30 seconds to shut down? Yikes my sisters dell mini 9 is like 10 seconds and boot in about 40 seconds. Opening word takes less than 2 seconds, something with your SSD by the sounds of it.

The known bottleneck with all the AAO SSD models (at least those available in SA up to now) is the fact that they fitted a notoriously slow SSD to it. So if you make the mistake of loading XP with NTFS file system, for example, it's a total dog! But the various fixes I suggested will bring the thing up to decent performance in terms of what it is without them, i.e. three agonising minutes to boot, or more! I understand later SSD models overseas have a Samsung SSD which is apparently much faster and less prone to write lag. And hey, whaddaya want for R2999 anyway? The Dell may be faster, but your bank account takes a heavier hit. And the AAO with SSD is beautifully designed, robust, and a pleasure to work on with its 90%-full-sized keyboard. Nicely built too.
