I posted on here so long ago, I feel like introducing myself again:).
Okay my problem. My daughter's laptop, Acer aspire 5, all went well, and all of a sudden it wont switch on, at least not with the power button. If I press any other key repeatedly, it switches on, but when I stop pressing any key, within a second or two, it just switches off. If I repeat pressing, it boots up into windows, but the moment I stop, it switches off.
So when I keep pressing, and the same time manage to unplug the keyboard (integrated keyboard), then it stays on. So something is definitely wrong with the keyboard.
If I plug in an external keyboard, we can then carry on as normal, but the moment I plug in the integrated keyboard, it switches off. I did strip the laptop until it was only the keyboard left, and did not see anything wrong. If didn't remove the keyboard, that seemed like way too deep. But I will if I just knew where to look.

Any ideas or guidance on what this can be?
PS; the pc technician I know tried sourcing a new keyboard, without luck, even from Acer themselves, because this is an 17 inch laptop, apparently their keyboards are scares.

Pls any help?

I also now drained the battery (through the small pin-hole reset), reset the bios. No luck

I did a search on Takealot and came across this, but out of stock.
I looked at the compatible models and saw it was compatible with your model.

Then I did a search for one of the models and came across the one below.Doesn't show yours as compatible, but if the A315-51 is compatiable with yours in the one, then surely it should be with both of these.

Hope what I'm trying to say makes sense.
