Apparently IC is bringing this out next week for R5999, I like the idea of more and more tabs being released, the only problem is which one to choose.
Any comments on this specific tab??? I'm a bit worried cause I've never heard of this tab before

Apparently IC is bringing this out next week for R5999, I like the idea of more and more tabs being released, the only problem is which one to choose.
Any comments on this specific tab??? I'm a bit worried cause I've never heard of this tab before

All in all, the Acer Iconia Tab A500 is a solid piece of hardware, if you have to have an Android tablet right now, but we don't know if we could recommend it in good conscience over some of the competitors on offer. Honestly, we're still slightly iffy about Honeycomb itself, and the longevity of the Tegra 2 processor, given the lack of Android 3.0 apps and speed at which OEMs are adopting faster and more efficient silicon respectively. At present, ASUS' Eee Pad Transformer seems the obvious choice if you can't afford a G-Slate -- assuming prices stay the same -- but at the same time, we don't think you'll be wholly displeased with Acer's tablet if brushed aluminum's your thing. Just keep that AC adapter handy

Just bought one from Incredible Connection in Hillcrest for R6000. They have a 10-day money-back guarantee so we figured it's worth a try.
It's for my mom. Although my dad seems to like it so he might buy one too, to replace his laptop.
Impressed with it so far. Performance is great, really like the OS too.
A bit bummed that it never came with an HDMI cable. Will check back at Incredible Connection about buying one, next time I go that way.

@Maddmatt 2 questions I would like to know
Does it have USB Host port?
Is the SD card reader working?

It has a USB Host port and the manual says you can plug keyboards and flash discs into it. Haven't tested any of that yet though, I'll post again when I do.
It might need the Android 3.1 update, I haven't looked into updating it yet.
I'll play around with it more later. I don't think I have an SD card to test on it though.

Cool thanx for the update.
Most reviews never talk about the things that really matter like plunging in USB hubs so you can use keyboard & mouse or SD card for moving data

Just tested my USB keyboard and my USB flash disk. Both worked 
You need to install a 3rd party file browser, it doesn't seem to come with one.

Woot thanx, I will recommend it then because I know someone that was looking for a tablet but wanted USB support esp keyboard.
All good I prefer ES file manager anyway, as it has Windows networking and all build in.
Edit: If the Asus Eee pad doesn't arrive before the end of the month I might get one 2

Audio is terrible for video calls. The mic picks up it's own speakers so the person calling it hears their own voice back even louder than the voice on the person using the Tab.
I tested by video calling it from my PC, using Google Talk.
Maybe there's a work-around, like using headphones. I hope Acer can fix it with a software update.

Well at least it's not a huge problem for me. Was hoping it could replace Skype to keep in contact with my parents when I'm out of the country, but oh well Skype on PC is still an option.
