Thank you. For some reason I prefer acoustic.best is go for a electric at a pawn shop, did that myself to start learning.
The electric is a bit harder with the note press on the neck and that will help you later with acoustic

You get steel string acoustics as well :erm:So do I, but the learning is a lot better with a electric, helps to harden the fingertips faster. I got one at a pawn shop for R700. Needed new strings and a clean. There is also the small amp you can get. http://www.takealot.com/marshall-ms2-micro-amp-series-1-watt-portable-electric-guitar-am/PLID38269499

Yeah just get a soundhole cover.I know, but with the electric you can practice without making a big racket
I'd like to learn how to play an acoustic guitar. Where can one get a good one for R1000?
I've seen second hand ones going for R500 at Cash Crusaders, I'm just not sure if they are worth it or not.

Thank you. I will check again and see if I missed thoseOP some advice. Two places to look for when buying second hand (or even new for that matter)
Check to make sure the bridge is not pulling off the body.

Check the neck join. Tug the neck slightly to see if it's still firmly connected to the body.

These two problems are the most common with second hands guitars especially ones that have been dropped.

If it's structurally sound that's a fair deal, it's Gumtree offer the guy R800https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-musical...retoria/yamaha-f310/1001731384290910202848109
Looks a bit scuffed up but if it's structurally okay then it's a good deal.
