Polokwane – Corruption must be dealt with quickly or else it will spread, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa warned on Friday.

"Good governance must mean that we have cut our links with corruption. Good governance must mean that we have rooted out people who are corrupt,” he told the Limpopo Economic Summit in Polokwane.

"Good governance means that when we see corruption, we must act on it without any delay, because delaying actions against corruption brings cancer, and make it bigger, and bigger, and bigger."

He was speaking after former public protector Thuli Madonsela's "State of Capture" report was released on Wednesday.

Ramaphosa commended Limpopo premier Stan Mathabatha for lifting the province out of its financial crisis.

In December 2011, Cabinet placed five Limpopo departments - treasury, education, roads and transport, public works, and health and social development - under administration. This was due to financial mismanagement and maladministration. Control was returned in July 2014.

Ramaphosa said South Africa was not the first country to confront developmental challenges. Decisive leadership able to deal with corruption was needed.

"We want leadership that is committed to the people of our country, leadership that will not be found wanting in any respect whatsoever, and leadership that inspires confidence."

Attracting investment depended on sound planning and stability.

"Demonstrate that you can plan your economy, you can come up with strategies that will be to grow your economy and that you are able to grow your economy."

The Limpopo government needed to exploit its mining, agriculture, and tourism sectors. Red tape had to be removed to make investment easier, but it should not create space for corruption, he said.

That first sentence is very telling. Admission of links to corruption is the first step.

Cyril, talk is cheap.

What concerns me is that you cannot speak with your party and take decisive actions and start by impeaching the president and move downwards through all your ranks. Why go public saying it must be done, while we all know nothing is being done?

You, Cyril, are one of the people protecting your president and the corruption within your government. You are one of those benefiting from corruption and it would be nice seeing you step down too, be investigated and stand criminal trial to answer to charges.

Cyril, the ANC is a failed organization. You are a failed person. Your words mean nothing. You are a corrupt beneficiary of all that is wrong in this country. You and your people will pay the price in due course. Maybe you will one day be remembered as a 'struggle hero' by a few million, but rest assured, by billions you and your government will be remembered as corrupt terrorists who violently took over a healthy country and looted it to ashes.

Have a nice day!

If it was possible they would have done it already.
But we all know that the ANC is irredeemably corrupt.

Cryril is one of the criminals propping Zuma up and he has the gall to talk about fighting corruption.

The absolute audacity of it is breathtaking.

All these CYA statements from the cadres all of the sudden so they look innocent, well you are just as guilty as JZ.

You were doing well until you compared apartheid to "a healthy country". Shame on you.

Are Albert & Mineer one person? They both keep referring to SA as "your country", and that sounds a lot like a certain previously banned member.

You are free to hide behind 'apartheid' to try and prove that South Africa was a fallen country where people suffered in all aspects. But, in all honesty, that was not the case.

Go and research some history Albert buddy boy. SA was hardly healthy, we were on the borderline of collapsing entirely.

Without delay? Meaning within a thousand years?
