Activate MTN pre-paid sim on iPhone

Hi All

I am going mad on this one.

I bought a prepaid MTN sim, now I am trying to activate the thing. I stick in into my old iPhone 4s. Called the MTN help desk (from my other phone) and they said I need to phone 555 and follow the voice prompts. Problem, when I dial 555 on the iPhone, it says calling 555, but nothing happens.

Am I missing something here? Has anybody on the forum activated a MTN sim with an iPhone before? How?

Maybe put the sim in your other phone (if it will fit), if still not successful then the sim might have a problem.

Hi

If its the new type SIM that does not come with a number, insert it into an older handset and switch it on. You will then be presented with a menu. Select new number and then follow the prompts and restart. Once you restart(in the same older handset) wait for an activation SMS and your new number assigned.. Once done, place the SIM back into the iPhone and it will work.
