Does anyone perhaps know what the so-called SM-DP+ address for Vodacom is, in order to load an esim on an iPhone manually.

Or what ways I can follow to get the QR code?

So honestly not sure about the SM-DP+ Address but I know with Vodacom you will need to have an “Open Contract” with them. If you are currently not on one it will take up to One Month to activate this feature.

You will then get charged an extra R29 pm on your contract for the eSim connection. Once the open contract is activated the device should be registered on their network once it syncs with your phone you should be good to go.

Speaking from a family members experience who activated his e-Sim 2 months ago. Just note this can’t be done if you have pre-paid number.

Also the call center will give you the real run around, you’re better off perhaps going to Vodaworld or a knowledgeable Vodacom store.

Edit: Sorry here is to me not reading properly. The above is for the eSim in an Apple Watch

To my knowledge we are still not able to activate eSims on iPhones on any networks

Nope, esim for iPhones has been available for a long time. I have been using MTN esim in my iPhone since march. There are other people here on the forum who have successfully activated vodacom esims on their phone. Just can’t remember who unfortunately.

Well there goes my knowledge out the door.

I remember calling the call center a when assisting my family member to activate the eSim on their watch and according to 3 different agents and I quote “eSim is not a real thing, What is an eSim, we do not support that feature”

If you do remember these succesful people on Vodacom please let me know, would be nice to have It activated.

Thank you for your reply.

I made my post after visiting a Vodashop to activate the OneNumber service on my data contract. They said I would get the QR code by email.

When I got home, still no email, then I noticed the option to “add manually”, which asks for that SM-DP+ address. Hence my post on here.

Anyway, a few hours later the email did come through, so I just scanned it and now the data contract is successfully loaded on my phone.

I basically wanted the data contract to be active on my phone, since the data I have on my voice line/primary number is not enough. I don’t want to carry the mobile router I got with the data sim around with me wherever I go.

Now both lines are on my phone and work perfectly so I’m happy.

You can add me to the list of “successful people” :)

Yes getting esim activated is a bit of hassle, most agents unfortunately don’t know it exists, you need to show the agents how it’s done.

Yeah if the name pops up I will let you know.

Can this be done on a Top up?

I know Telkom has had esim support for a while...still waiting for stock of my iphone to test it out. But esim support on most networks are alive and well.....................................................

I ported to Telkom from MTN to get eSIM after MTN basically refused to help me from their side.
At Telkom it is very easy. You just purchase an eSIM as you would any regular sim.
Inside the eSIM package there is a QR code you scan which adds the eSIM to your phone.
Very simple.

I’m sorry highjack your thread. But I’m up to my eyeballs with trying to get an esim, still to no avail after visiting MTN shops and even calling on line. How I convert my sim in into an eSim

I have a Vodacom work which I use the most with very limited data. And I also have an MTN data contract with I use it for data on a small mobile router.

My ideal scenario is to have both of the sims active On my iPhone

Regular > Vodacom
eSim> Data

Which branch can I visit to get assisted or line can I call?

Call MTN call centre first and check.. if you on the old system you will need to go to the shop, if not, they should be able to help you over the phone..

Also remember once of fee R99 and monthly R25 for it

Can I use a Vodacom prepaid iPhone with a Telkom Mobile prepaid Apple Watch?

Go to the mtn store and ask them to sim swap your number to esim. You are going to have to help them though.

I never got any of those charges. Did they charge you?
