Ok, so I took the plunge and got me an ATI 5870 GPU. The card is awesome. I also took the plunge and got myself 3 Samsung Syncmaster P2370 monitors.

I now need to get an Active Displyport to DVI cable to get the Eyefinity to work. I have really searched high and low, but cannot find a cable like in Johannesburg, or maybe I am just looking in all the wrong places.

Is there anyone that can maybe help me?

Thanks,

Corne

My apologies
Why does it have to be active?

I'd try a passive one first, since you're looking at probably over a grand for an active one (link). Which means that buying a more expensive monitor with displayport would have been a better idea. I've heard that people have used passive ones on the 5xxx cards. But I'd check on specific ones that are known to work, if they really do work.

Yeah, active ones are gonna be more than R1k, why not get a better monitor for the main monitor with that cash (one that has displayport), those sammys are not fast enough for gaming, or in fact anything that is not static (yeah I have one, the worst screen I ever bought(but also the cheapest)).

Also read this if you haven't already.

Passive don't work on on Eyefinity. I can link the ATI forums, but there is just to many post about this. I really don't mind paying R1000 to get the cable...All I want is to find a place in Johannesburg that sells it...

Interesting read in that link :)

I guess ATI itself is wrong about it then:

Btw, most people are doing it through DP -> VGA passive. Obviously if money is not the concern, then an active one will be the best, since it is Dual-Link DVI.

Well, I have tried the passive one. Does not work....Trust me. Hence I am looking for the Active one. Money is actually an issue, but if you want something bad enough you will pay for it....like me....I want it ....

This is going to send me over the edge :(

If you know someone with a Frontosa reseller account, they have them for R1012.32 incl. - not sure of stock level though.
