Active shooter reported on Ohio State campus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — An alert was issued for an active shooter on Ohio State University’s Campus Monday morning.

The alert was sent by Ohio State University Police 9:56 a.m.

The alert said, “Buckeye Alert: Active Shooter on campus. Run Hide Fight. Watts Hall. 19th and College.”

Sources tell ABC 6/FOX 28 at least three people were shot. An NBC4 reporter tweeted that seven people had been taken to the hospital.

Another alert told people to shelter in place and avoid the area of College Road north.

Individuals licensed to carry a concealed pistol by Michigan or another state are prohibited from carrying a concealed pistol on the following premises: schools or school property, public or private day care center, public or private child caring agency, or public or private child placing agency, sports arena or stadium, a tavern where the primary source of income is the sale of alcoholic liquor by the glass consumed on the premises, any property or facility owned or operated by a church, synagogue, mosque, temple, or other place of worship, unless the presiding official allows concealed weapons, an entertainment facility that the individual knows or should know has a seating capacity of 2,500 or more, a hospital, a dormitory or classroom of a community college, college, or university, and casinos.

9 injured, 1 dead I think. Still looking for the guys.

They actually arrested 2 people on the scene though. A bystander and a victim, for firearms offenses. Along with at least 6 others in the area.


9 injured and 1 dead in 2014 as well, just 5 blocks away in a fire fight.

If everyone got a prescribed dosage of hookers* and blow each week, this wouldn't be happening.

*hookers could get money and blow instead, I guess.
 
Nine hurt, suspect killed in 'terrifying' Ohio State attack

An Ohio State student crashed his vehicle into pedestrians on the Columbus campus Monday, then slashed students with a butcher knife before being fatally shot by a university police officer, authorities said.

Nine people were rushed to hospitals and one was in critical condition, according to university Police Chief Craig Stone.

The drama began shortly before 10 a.m. ET, when the suspect deliberately drove over a curb and began his attack, Stone said. He said the officer arrived about a minute later and engaged the suspect.

"We are very fortunate that an OSUPD officer was there and took quick action," Stone said.

Law enforcement officials told NBC News the suspect's name is Abdul Razaq Ali Artan, an 18-year-old student at the university.

He was a Somali refugee who left his homeland with his family in 2007, lived in Pakistan and then came to the United States in 2014 as a legal permanent resident of the United States, officials said. He attended Columbus State Community College for two years, graduating cum laude with an associates degree before moving onto Ohio State to continue his studies.

The motive was unknown, although law enforcement sources said Artan posted a rant on social media prior to the incident. Officials said the attack was clearly deliberate and may have been planned in advance.

"This was done on purpose," Stone said.

Officials said Artan was in the car by himself, but investigators are trying to determine if anyone else was involved in the planning.
