I am unable to display sites with activex from a PC on my LAN e.g. windowsupdate site or pcpitstop.com.

From my PC (Windows 200) there is no problem, only from another PC on the network. One can browse the web from any PC on the LAN but only sites with no activex.

When I use a dialup connection, there is no problem. Sentech and Microsoft are unable to help me.

Any assistance is appreciated.

The first person to mention "Install Firefox", gets a smack.

You might need to check the security settings in I.E

Tools -> Internet Options -> Security Tab
Make sure internet zone is selected.
Click the "Custom" button.

Automatic Prompting for activex controls -> Enable
Download Signed ActiveX controls - > Prompt
Download Unsigned ActiveX controls -> Prompt.
Run activex controls and plugins -> Prompt (Or Enable if you have big balls).

See if that helps.
:D

Ken - Some of the activeX controls communicate with the server on non standard ports. If you are behind a firewall it is quite possible these ports are blocked for your safety and therefore the activex controls will not function correctly.

Only on Sentech

When I use a dialup connection activex works OK.

I only have this problem with the Sentech connection.

Is YOUR pc the one with the modem?

If so it could be a classic case of MTU/MSS settings.

Trawl the forums for that ... basically you need to reduce the MTU on the other lan pc's that make use of the MyWireless unit.

If the mywireless is connected to a router with firewall, make sure it allows outgoing connections on those ports (as stated above)...
