Actors join forces

Err, no. Robin Wright is absolutely essential, just like Spacey. She's brilliant.

We're getting into subjective territory here.

I'm not saying she isn't good. But House of Cards is the Kevin Spacey show. Everything else is fluff.

I remember when the news first broke that she was getting equal pay to Spacey. The consensus was that it wasn't fair as Spacey is the bigger star.

Same thing with the movie Passengers recently. Chris Pratt's co star gets triple his pay even though he has double her screen time.

This PC stuff is taken over board in movies now.

Ever notice how in movies now too female characters can become an expert in anything the first time they pick it up, while the male characters have to work and train hard?

Happened in the Star Wars VII and Iron Man 3.

Luke has to train with Yoda for two movies to get goof with a saber, while the first time Rey picks one she is automatically a master.

Tiny Stark spends two movies developing the suits through trail and error and hard work, suffers being kidnapped, but at the end of Iron Man 3 the first time Pepper Pots puts on a suit she can beat the main villain.

Just lol.

This is why I generally prefer UK content. Far less of this crap.

Sorry but since you are the one that brought up "Robin Wright" not being not as much of a star (which i agree with), as much as I like Chris Pratt, there is no way he is as big a star as Jennifer Lawrence.

Well, I disagree obviously. I'd say she's just as critical at this point. The dynamic between the two is one of the most important factors in the show, and she's vital to that.

She got $20m, he got $12m - that's not triple. And she is a bigger star, including being an Oscar winner.

Natalie Portman (also an Oscar winner) was paid 3 times less than Ashton freakin' Kutcher for No Strings Attached. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin (from Grace & Frankie) were paid the same as their male co-stars, even though the show is explicitly about them and they have way more screen time.

There's actually research on this stuff, btw. Jennifer Lawrence is actually one of the most (if not currently the most) profitable actors working. She brings in $50 for every dollar she's paid.

She was also paid less than Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper in American Hustle.

You're reaching. With Luke and Tony Stark the story is specifically about their backstory, struggles, training etc.

With Rey it clearly isn't, and they likely didn't want to spend 2 movies just on her training.

Am not that familiar with the second film but didn't Rhodes become war machine with precious little training..?

^, she's a great, great actress - no doubt about it. But like the Rock said, know your role and shut your mouth :p

I get tired of the whining sometimes no matter how much I might respect the whiner.

Yes, men don't like women who express opinions. They must know their place and shut their mouths right?

I'm fine with Jennifer Lawrence getting more money than Pratt. She's the bigger box office draw. That's how it should work.

Ja, because we weren't just discussing how Ben Affleck should STFU. He's a biatch, but even I will admit he probably has a penis.

Yep. In Captain America: Civil War, Spiderman is somehow a badass fighter, too, despite being a random teenager with no training. Ditto for Ant-Man.

It's called the Instant Expert trope.

Spiderman was a vigilantte for quite a while before Tony came along. That's how Tony found out about him. He also developed the strong web before they met.

He was in the army though. They train you there.

This is subjective, so won't argue too much there, but Pratt had double her screen time. That means she got paid 6 times more than him. Maybe you're right, just seemed a bit off.

Plenty of actors get paid more for little screen time, best example I can think of is Marlon Brando in Superman, he got $3,7 million for two weeks work and very little screen time while Christopher Reeve, the lead actor got $250 000.

It's not about effort, it's about name recognition...how many bums in cinema seats will this actor bring in? Chris Pratt is still up-and-coming while Lawrence is the name.

In the 2 different official movie posters below, see how she's listed first and her picture is first (in the left-right or top-bottom framing) -

Pretty sure, dollar salary to dollar box office return, she's one of the most bankable actors working today.

I have no doubt we could find similar examples where genders are reversed. You're basically complaining about the same sort of thing that feminists do. As far as I'm concerned bigger star = bigger money. The Hunger Games series have been huge successes and Pratt hasn't done anything comparable yet. It's sort of subjective, but not entirely.

^, he has Guardians of the Galaxy behind him and the sequel coming soon. He's doing okay :)

I'm a fan...he was great on Parks and Rec.

You are paying for the big names I suppose -- Yet I still smell a BIG RAT here?? This is insane?
