Acupuncture - Miracle Cure?

I was speaking to a collogue earlier and he mentioned that one can go to an acupuncturist to stop smoking. He said that they insert a needle around your ear and it apparently works wonders. It costs in the region of R500 and they guarantee that if it does not work they will do it again for free.

Has anyone heard of this? Can it be true?

Apparently it can cure any addiction – be it sex, alcohol, drugs, etc, cure OCD, anorexia etc. It seems a bit simplistic to me.
 
Placebo effect. It's in the same league as reflexology - hocus pocus...
 
although you are on the right track, your post isnt entirely correct.

coincidentally, i was at Dr Zip in Randburg last Saturday (the guy that does this), and after 15 years of 30 smokes a day, i havent had a cigarette since.

Its not really accupuncture, its two tiny "earrings" i guess that are pinned to the middle of your ear, and one hour later, well....i am proof...i dont smoke anymore.

haven't craved, or picked up a cigarette since i walked out of there, and its was R550.00.

So call it placebo, call it brainwashing it doesnt actually matter...i am no longer a smoker.

can you dig it?

Dr Gavin Zipp? The guy's a quack. He once prescribed me infra-red treatments to assist with osteoarthritis pain.

Who cares....i paid, it worked, and i dont smoke anymore. I saw Dr Bran (or Bram i think), he is the dude who "taught" Dr Zipp.

Use it dont use it dude...worked for me.
 
Insert a 12 inch needle directly into your ear and you probably wont smoke anymore.

Ever heard of a joke? Lighten up.

What do you honestly think would happen if you were to stick a 12 inch needle into your ear? Think about it. And then hopefully feel stupid.

You know I've always wondered why in China, acupuncturists can get a patient under so much so that arms and legs can get lopped off in major surgery without anaesthetic. Yet these same chinese acupuncturists cannot cure smoking.

Well, I used a cigar to give up smoking, so I don't need needles.

I'm glad the placebo effect worked for you.
