Addicted to lip ice?

Well are you? Addicted in the my-lips-are-on-fire-if-I-don't-use-lip-ice sense?

I always had this problem that whenever I used lip ice for an extended period of time, I would go bat**** out of my mind if I couldn't find it because my lips were bone dry within an hour or two.

I stopped using it about two years ago and it was really bad. But after a few months, my lips had regained their usual moisture and it wasn't so bad. That's quite weird because technically it means that lip ice is physically addictive.

Just wondering if anyone has noticed that using lip ice makes you dependant on it?
 
It depends. I always have it on me but I only feel like I cannot live without it inbetween seasons, when I'm in the berg and when I'm in the sun. Then I go mad because I hate having dry lips :o

I do agree that having lip ice will usually make you dependent on it but if it makes a persons lips so nice and smooth then where's the harm in it?
 
yeah, Librarian even chows the stuff out of the tube...
 
I am addicted to Labello. I have to have it on in the mornings on my way to work, and again at night before going to sleep. I also have some at work for during the day. I have 3 tubes - 1 at work, 1 in the car and one at home...

I actually realised a while ago I was addicted and tried to cut back - couldn't do it.

Same! :D I am never without. They are strategically placed too. There's always one that lives in my handbag, another at my desk and one next to my bed. Oh and I get the different types for different situations :o Like the proper one is for when it's cold/hot and then I have glossy/ flavoured/ sparkly ones for when I'm out with someone... ;)

Don't cut back, embrace it :D
 
Oh come on lush. Do you understand what addicted means? You think the desert people have lip ice? Humans never needed lip ice. Only because its available today do we "need" it. I don't like fscking pharma companies selling products that makes you dependant on them.

Being addicted means you require the substance you are addicted to, simply to achieve what your perceive as "normal". This is how the addiction starts:

1. You naturally have soft, moist lips.

2. You get a particularly dry, warm, sunny day and your lips get dry.

3. Instead of just waiting it out and letting your lips heal themselves naturally, you are a typical consumerist and go buy something that removes your discomfort.

4. The lip ice, made from the tears of the devil himself, smells nice and tastes nice and numbs your lips with a menthol-like substance. Seeds of addiction planted.

5. Your lips see they don't need to moisturize themselves anymore because Dr Labello is doing it for them. They stop secreting moisture.

6. Whenever you forget to apply lip ice, your lips shrivel up like the numfi of a 103 year old warty hag.

7. Labello makes a billion bucks because you're addicted to their product.

i have a friend that was addicted to the stuff, he said he had to slowly reduce his use until he didn't need it anymore, going cold turkey is just not possible
 
Um maybe count to ten before you start being aggressive :/

And I'm not going get into a huge debate with you but although lip ice in a tube didn't exist many years ago people have often used natural products to soothe any discomfort of the lips or any body part for that matter.
An example that springs to mind is the use of aloe or cocoa butter as a natural solution, therefore eliminating the need for the product made by satan as you see it...

People many many years ago who lived in coastal areas may not have had sun cream in a perfectly manufactured bottle but they knew to break open coconuts and use the oil to smear over their bodies to prevent sun burn. They needed it because the skin cannot handle prolonged exposure from the elements.
Our bodies are not able to cope with everything thrown at it, products like these are designed to soothe and help our bodies when they need the extra assistance.

If I am in the sun I’d rather use protection than feel uncomfortable as my lips ‘adjust and recover’. I fail to believe that there is something wrong with me for seeking a product that prevents physical discomfort. If you’re in the sun for long periods of time your lips do not just put up with it, so I don’t know where you get that from.
My good mate is a paddler and he entered a five day long competition and his lips looked like s.h.i.t afterwards. Horribly dry and blistered, they were stuffed. So don’t you tell me that that the skin on your lips can deal with these circumstances on their own.

It is available commercially and it is your choice to use the product. Don't attack others who want to buy into these sorts of products, it's their choice too

Yea - I've heard things of excessive shaking, psycosis and even cardiac arrest.

Lush, you have a point there. But you seem to be missing the point. The stuff is physically addictive. Not only is it UNETHICAL to create such a product, it is also ILLEGAL (unless you've got little "lip ice may cause cancer" stickers on them). It is your free will to buy and use the product. It is not your free will to have your body become dependant on the substance.
 
I've always told my friends that lip ice is addictive....
they always laughed at me....
 
I've been addicted to lip ice for at least the last 12 years. Not a day goes by without having lip ice with me. There must be something in it because if for some reason I can't find it, my lips start burning instantly.
