Adding SMS sending to Hikvision NVR

I've just installed my first CCTV system. It's connected to the LAN and I can access it locally and remotely. Apart from decent passwords, the pfSense firewall also adds additional network protection.

The NVR is a Hikvision DS-7716NI-SP 16-channel. Connected are a number of Hikvision 3MP cams, mainly DS-2CD2032s and DS-2CD2632Fs, all POE. A PTZ cam is also attached, with a defined patrol. I'm impressed by the quality of the kit, and all works fine. The WP client software also works beautifully.

I've defined motion detection masks and it emails me pix as per my requirement.

I'd now like to add the ability to send me an SMS on defined alarm conditions, eg motion detection and video content analysis conditions.

What do I need to make this system send me an SMS on defined conditions? And where do I get the kit?

I'd be grateful for any advice and guidance.

You'll need to go into the motion setup, linkage option and enable the "notify surveillance centre" box. As far as I recall it will only send push notifications on motion events and not vca.

Go into network and ddns setup, enable hiddns and give your recorder a unique name.

Then sign up for an account at www.hik-online.com.

Go to manage devices and add a new device using the serial number of the recorder. Username and password needs to be that of the recorder.

Open up your ivms 4500 and add a new recorder using the hiddns option, enter the appropriate settings.

Last step is to go to the alarm section, tap on set alarm notification and enable the alarm box next to the recorder you added using the hiddns account.

That's about all I can remember off hand.

Does the Hikvision online security center send the SMS? Or do I need to get a local GSM sender?

Sorry, I should have clarified, it isn't an sms, it's a push notification similar to a whatsapp message.

To be honest I'm not sure if the WP client will support it, if it isn't android or apple most cctv manufacturers couldn't be bothered but have a dig through the settings and check if it's all there.

Emails with attached pix work fine. I just want something a bit more attention-grabbing than email.

Personally, I'd pipe the email to a php script that then fires off an SMS to me. There are many SMS gateway services available out there.

SMS notifications are so old school.

Blue Iris can send sms/push messages/email etc. and toast your bread if you want it to.
