adhoc vista and xp and windows 7 problems

All my connections are correct and the adhoc network is working,but when connecting the xp machine to the vista machine i get connected for 12 seconds only and it bombs out.Why is this cause if i connect the xp to xp via adhoc the connection is solid.
1-all firewalls are turned off on all the machines
2-All network incoming data..etc........is all allowed.
I just cant figure it out,can you
With windows 7 and xp it does the same thing...aarrrgghh.what the .

Don't want to be blunt but an access point will sort the problem.

I have a similar problem with an ad hoc network between a XP and Vista machine. the XP machine has the internet connection. The Vista machine connects to the XP machine for its internet connectivity, however, after a while the vista machine will loose internet connectivity, but stay connected to the network. I then have to restart the xp machine for the internet to work again.

XP to XP works fine. MS make a big fsckup with Vista and it's networking capabilities. It's way to finicky. I suppose an access point will also sort my problem out.

ap is not what i am looking to fix the problem,but its a quick fix indeed.Damn ms.Anyway i eventually fixed it by using the software to control the wireless device and not windows.
