It was good while it lasted (2months). What a pity, I am not prepared to pay R680.00 + line + 1 November ISP costs
for a degraded, poor so called "Broadband" internet service. While we all complained for a while now nothing has come off it. It is a dark hour for South Africa telecomunications as we are being defrauded by TELKOM with full cooperation and agreement from the Goverment. I will rather wait another year and save Rthousands than be further subjected to this monopolistic theft of my hard earned cash. This theft does not stop here, cancelation takes 30 days, thus you had to give 30 days notice. Thus they will steal a further R680,00 before the line is reconverted + R275.00 to convert the line back to a normal line. Therefore it is best to cancel the line to save at least some costs. How pathetic.
Thus; Here a letter of cancelation to the head of the cancelations department.

It has come to my attention that Telkom changed the ADSL billing system from 1 November 2005 that will increase my effective broadband service from the current near R1000.00 to R2700.00+ per month. Therefore I regret to have to cancel this service as from 31 October 2005 as it would not serve any purpose worth affording at that cost as the service is also degraded by shaping and blocking to be useless.
Please assist with immediate affect, as I would refuse paying for the additional month of November. I have been a loyal client of Telkom for close to 20 Years with the current lines in operation since 1995 and will regret to have to cancel all the further services if I do not get quick response to this request
The line number involved is 011 366 1744. This line was converted to ADSL on 1 September 2005. If conversion back now will cost me any further expense I will not be prepared to pay this and then just cancel the line completely. I will then also cancel the other lines I have and then save a grand total of R3000.00 per month as from now

I cancelled mine this morning because of the pricing adjustment. Just phoned and they processed my cancellation over the phone. They "claim" they will call me within 72 hours just prior to cancelling the adsl. I expect them to cock up big time and screw up my life once again.

Really, I still think that I'm gonna wake up and this whole mess is gonna turn out to be some sort of bad dream.

HOW THE <insert bad word> CAN TELKOM GET AWAY WITH THIS????????

Well I'm still waiting for the free video on demand trial which was suppose to be installed at the beginning of this month. My plan was to drop ADSL to 192k, get a 1gig account and then use ADSL & free VOD service until the trial came to an end.

But alas, I'm still waiting for VOD and they can only process one request at a time?!?!?!? Haven't they heard of multi-tasking?

So, I'm busy "waiting" for someone at Telkom answer my call, so that I can cancel anything Telkom, entirely.

I'm trying to understand Telkom's policies of business, but I just can't...it was understood from them that ADSL would become more affordable (price drops etc.) to the consumer, but alas, it's not the case it would appear. If people are suddenly resorted to cancelling their ADSL due to higher costs, then surely something is terribly wrong...how the **** can you go back to dial-up again...it's just wrong. Their whole way of dealing with the consumer market is criminal. Either way for them they are always making money out of it, and we stay the losers.

I'd hate to have to revert back to dial-up, but lets see.
