Oh MY SACK,
So I've had endless hassle since installing DSTV on Saturday.
I noticed my favourite channel was stuttering and seemed to be not receiving the full signal on the weekend.

I though because of Open Weekend, it was maybe just an overload or summing.
Still today, it's choppy and definitely seems signal related.

I've rebooted multiple times and made sure the LNB's are fine.
I had the decoder at DSTV today to swop out the model as the SD PVR HD crashed. So this is a brand new unit,
same signal loss. It must be the dish alignment.

Is there ANY chance whatsoever of me being able to do this myself :wtf::D:whistle::confused:
Where do I start :D

WHat are the values you get for Signal Strength & Signal Quality. Signal Quality is way more important than strength.

Yes, just climb onto the roof and have a tv in view. Adjust it horizontally then vertically for the best signal to get basic alignment. Then repeat the process for exact alignment. Also make sure your LNB is correctly aligned. Turn it clockwise and counter clockwise to where the signal disappears and mark the positions. Then align it exactly in the middle.

I'll check tonight but if I recall, signal strength was at 69%. They could have been quality though.

Let me give it a go!

Go to this website: http://www.dishpointer.com/
All the info you need is there. Type in your home address and choose "68.5E INTELSAT 20 (IS-20) | INTELSAT 7 (IS-7)" for DSTV settings.

Thanks for this, It is helpful. I will give it a shot.

Please help me :(

I don't have a clue on what to do.
I've made sure all LNB connections are secure and fitted properly.
Ended up on the roof today and think I fooked things up worse. I now managed to get signal back but it's still the same story .
Stuck on searching for signal for a whole batch of channels!

Can I ask, how much would it cost for some pro to just get on the roof and allign it for me properly.
I don't think I have a chane on how to actually allign it properly myself .

Well you should be aligning it after it's finished scanning otherwise it won't get through the process. Not sure if you can interrupt it and get to the signal screen. If you can't get a better signal then something must be in the way.

If you imagine the dish as a clock pretend that the lnb is a needle and it should point to 4 o'clock. Adjusting the dish by a fraction translates to thousands of km being adjusted before it catches the dstv sginal. so be careful.

Who did the installation on Saturday? Reason I ask is if it was an installer then call them back to fix it.
