Hi ...

As mentioned I got a friend to partition my HDD, as I wanted to keep Windows XP (small partition) and storage (large partition) seperatly.

He did this correctly, but the thing is my small partition with my OS was d:\ while my storage was c:\. I wanted to change this and through some investigating he's done something odd. For example, if I go Admin Tools > Computer Management it lists the status of the drives as healthy (system) and healthy (boot). It won't let me change any drive letters because of this.

Secondly, my storage c:\ did have a Windows and Program files folder. I deleted these and everything looks good (boots up etc), but because of this another friend said he did the partition incorrectly and should\ve made it nonbootable. How do I do this now and change the drive letter?

Hi

This is what you need to do. It does however involve registry editing & is not entirely risk free.

This assumes that your OS was on C: originally.

Good luck.

I would not suggest you change the way you have it currently. The way I see if, Windows is installed on D:\, thus a LOT of stuff will look for the files in D:\, and not on C:\. The only safe way around this, is to install Windows on C:\

I believe Dolby had everything on C: then split the partition and now has windows on D:.

If the storage partition has no programs on it then you can just swap the letters. If there are progs on the storage partition then a reinstall is best, as SOftdux suggested.
