Adobe co-founder John Warnock passes away at 82

Not to devalue the fact that his company is basically the go-to for so many creative processes, and having lived long enough to use everything from Adobe to Coreldraw to Macromedia's apps (and some others) I can truly say they do know their stuff, so big ups to him posthumously on that one, however what Adobe has become, how they basically ensured a near monopoly in those spaces and how egregiously they price their products (and the constant shifting range of products) is just not it. They need to get some serious competition to lean out a bit and be a bit more competitive with their pricing.
 
Was watching a ILM documentory on the weekend and there were a few references to Adobe. Very interesting....

Photoshop was first used at Industrial Light & Magic as an image-processing program. Photoshop was created by ILM Visual Effects Supervisor John Knoll and his brother Thomas as a summer project. It was used on The Abyss. The Knoll brothers sold the program to Adobe shortly before the film's release.[citation needed] Thomas Knoll continues to work on Photoshop at Adobe and is featured in the billing on the Photoshop splash screen. John Knoll continues to be ILM's top visual effects supervisor, and was one of the executive producers and writers of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[51]
