Hi all,

I know this has been worn out on the forums, but I don't know the latest, so bear with me.

I currently have a Telkom line, non ADSL, and ADSL WIFI router. I want to get some suggestions on what would be the best option to go if I would need the following:

2Gb Cap
384k Shaped
Good option of "topup" if I need additional data.
Month to month

I know there is many ways to skin a cat, so please give me all your ideas.

Thanks

Well, if you get one of Telkom's 2GB accounts, you will also have access to 20GB free local data after your international bandwidth is used up. You can use this local data to grab stuff off the news servers, complain on this forum etc. :p

It's also worth considering that you almost always get more than 2GB international from a supposed "2GB" Telkom account. I got about 6GB off mine this month. They don't charge you for going over like this, and are the only ISP to have this quirk AFAIK.

As far as "top-up" is concerned, you don't have to restrict yourself to one ISP. I'd recommend pre-paid bandwidth, because it doesn't expire at month's end if you don't use it. Webafrica sells shaped SAIX prepaid bandwidth for R70 per GB.
