Ok,

So we are moving the bussiness to a bigger office somewhere in centurion and I was just wondering if we do install adsl again in the new offices would the new 1024adsl be a better option than the 512k we had.

We currently run on 512k at work and theirs about 20 pc's connected to one line everyone can open their e-mails nicely and surf pages ok.

it just seems to got slower some time recently. don'lt know if it is the old routers?

Will it be worth to go from 512 to 1024?

thanks...

Go for the 1024K line.

Just keep in mind the cap. With the 1024K line everything will be faster, and you will reach your cap faster.

I'll just say they must get the all "you can eat" 30gig cap it's not to expenisve.

if the line is faster i hope it won't eat the cap to quickly??
will it?

If it's a work line, then getting a bigger cap shouldn't be a big deal. Presuming they're the type of employees who only use the net for work purposes, then they'll be using the same amount of bandwidth per month, except they'll be doing the tasks requiring that bandwidth faster. So yeah get the faster line, and, depending on your staff's internet habbits you may need a larger cap.

but does the 1024k line deliver it's true speeds..
better than the 512k?

Depends on many factors.. but if the area isn't too old (ie old lines) and you aren't very far from the exchange it will definitely be better than 512k. If your speed has been going down recently though then it could be exchange-related.

Mad could it also be the routers? because I think the work is also apllying for new ones?

Doubtful unless someone has perhaps fiddled with settings.. it sounds like numerous ADSL ports have been filled up around there and the speeds are starting to be affected. Many people are having the same problem and I have seen TCPIQ results from numerous individuals which indicate the average download speed decreasing, but oddly enough the average upload speed sometimes increases.

Perhaps there is congestion somewhere along the way. Also, has there been any heavy rain in the area in the past while?

the last heavy rain was about 3weeks ago from 3 jan till then

i think it almost rained like 480ml why do you ask?

Well there are occasionally problems after heavy rains.. manholes get flooded and ducting gets water inside.. wires get wet, connectors get wet.. all these pleasant things have a negative effect on the connection and this could be one of the reasons your speed has decreased, if not the main reason.

In your opinion, has the speed decreased since the rains a while back? Or before/after that?

to tell you the truth i think it was faster than before it rained

maybe it is the rain
