Hi,

I am currently on an ADSL package with Dynamic IP address. I would like to have a domain (not sub-domain) to redirect to my PC for Remote Desktop purposes as well as email.

Please advise on the best services (price and value) currently available.

Regards
Aharon

If its for personal use, then you can register a free domain like za.net (done at http://za.net/), but that might take a few months.
Alternatively, you can register a .co.za domain (done at http://co.za/) for like R50pa.

You can then manage the domain names with either www.mydomain.com or www.zoneedit.com.

I'd suggest that for a start you register a subdomain at DynDNS.com and then simply link the hostname of your domain with the DynDNS subdomain that you have.

eg.
  1. I would register pada.za.net
  2. Register at DynDNS.com a subdomain like pada.dyndns.org, which would map to my ADSL's IP address
  3. Then I create a hostname on my own domain, like mypc.pada.za.net, which I map to pada.dyndns.org.
Now whenever I use mypc.pada.za.net, it resolves to my ADSL's IP address!
