HI

I have an office in Fish Hoek where I have ADSL. The problem is that 1km away at home its unavailable due to optical fibre wiring.. I need to get adsl at home. Is there something out there that can help me. Ive tried wireless and they say I cant get it here due to the mountain... thanks!

welcome

i have the same problem in kommetjie - we are pretty stuffed way down south as regards options - apparently three hops over the mountain so none of the bigger wisps will take it on (and believe me i have tried very very hard to convince them...and i have leverage but no)

sure someone will have a solution...

2 Wifi access points - 1 on each side

High gain directional patch antennas

That is if you have line of sight and if you are prepared to be on the wrong side of Telkom. (and the law most probably).

in other words you would need to set it up yourself and the way the law currently stands you would be breaking it if you did this (although that would hardly make you the only one)

BTW, I am not advocating it, I'm just giving a suggestion :) . How does the law see connecting a 2km long LAN cable to your router? :P

The laws of physics will not be on your side. Ethernet does not have that range. :)
