morning just want to know something

lets say the people behind me have adsl, and i have adsl

if plug mine in lan port 1 and ran a cable from theirs to port 2
and i select bond in the lan options
will i get the speed of both? with downloads etc that use multi-connections

and how will data be splatted?

so 2 separate setups it just goes into one pc
is that possable?

like my 8mbps+ there 4 will give me 12mbps?

What you're looking for is load balancing, and if your router supports it then yes you will get 12Mbps when using multiple connections. Depending on what settings the router has it will generally try and split loads evenly between the two connections hence balancing them.

I'm not aware of any consumer grade routers that do this though.

you need an ISP that provide specific bonded adsl service and than you will be limited to whatever line speed they offer on their bonded products.. i.e 2x 2mbps lines for total of 4 mbps..

what may work for you is connectify dispatch.. you add the active internet connected lan connections into the app which will then "bond"
the internet connections.. this means having a "server" in the middle, between your devices and routers..

so this setup wont work

line>router>acc>cable to pc lan 1
----------------------------------------PC
line>router>acc>cable to pc lan 2

or must it go from the 2lines+router to a "3rd" router that does the load balancing,i cant just connect the 2 separate line/routers

You need a dual wan router to achieve load balancing.

We use the Netgear Prosafe FVS338G's and sometimes the Draytek Vigor 2960 routers to acieve this for clients.
Bear in mind that it will not bond the lines, to do hat you need your sip to support it.

It doesn't have to be a router doing the load balancing. If you have a PC with two NICs then you may be able to do the balancing there, the complexity of this will depend what OS you're using.

yup i have dual gigabit ports and running windows 10 pro

So you want to team both NICs, which are attached to your box? Yea you can do that and aggregate the bandwidth of both. I just need to ask; how are you using your neighbors line?

There don't seem to be many success stories that I can find online with Windows and load balancing. Probably more trouble than it's worth. Easier getting a dedicated device.

i am not,well yet :P

i been wanting to use 2 lines for sometime
but then i have to pay for installation and voice ,we are good friend with the neighbors,so that wont be a problem if i aske them to change it to adsl also and i pay them the difference, that way i save on the R800instalation,and the monthly voice rental :P and best of all no waiting for telkom to come out
used the 4mb as example and wont be hardwork to run a cable from them to me
