ADSL cap?

Hi Guys,

I've checked my stats at http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/ and have given me the following results for this month so far?

Upload (Bytes) 645 449 176
Download (Bytes) 3 639 336 337
Combined (Bytes) 4 284 785 513

surely I have used up my bandwidth? yet I can still browse international sites?

I am using telkom as my ISP does this have something to do with it?

I kinda went bos at the beginning of the month downloading
now I'm worried when I will get cut off?

If I get cut off, I should still be able to browse local hey?

my biggest concern is i think my mail server sits in the UK, so in theory i'll not be able to receive mail, whoops

most of the downloading was international

Do yourself a favor and browse these forums a few minutes a day, let's say 30 minutes at the least.

Telkom is having issues with their usage tracker, it reports correct for some users and different for others.

Should you get capped, ie. you have no international access, you can buy prepaid GB's from Webafrica.co.za which doesn't expire, you can use it until it's finished and just top it up again, it costs R70 for 1Gigabyte.

Telkom generally give you leverage to use about 6GB on a 3GB package, but it's not set in stone

tera - the mileage on the Do3 has varied this omnth as a result of the local uncapped tests. For instance I was capped at 4.28Gb or some such. Although its possible that there is still international left on my Do3 account as I was first hard capped at 3GB for 2 or so days.

But Telkom have stated once local is uncapped, hard cap will be the order of the day.

Cool milomak, like I said, it's not set in stone I've heard from a few people who were hard capped at 3Gb

I guess it shows that when one deals with Telkom nimbleness is a key pre-requisite

ok so either the counter is incorrect or telkoms usage tracker isn't too accurate on my account.

I'll try cap it on the last day of the month and let you guys know where it stops,

ok, just contacted telkom - I got a extra 1Gig straight away for R79

the catch is i needed another user name and password and when that gig is finished I go back to the old one -

now question, if I had a DSL enabled line at home, and I kept this R79 p/m with a new user name and password, could I not use these at the same time hence eliminating another ISP cost?

I'm sure somebody has though of this tho,

Yes you could.

The way I use it. Telscum 3GB account, when it's capped (which is very rarely) I switch to 1GB prepaid. That's how it works.

1st of the next month I switch back to Telscum.
