ADSL, Cape Town, Where!?

Maybe I just get the bad ones. On approximately 60% of the occasions on which a technician has been dispatched to my premises, the technician in question either didn't have the first clue about ISDN, the line, etc., or he was doing a VERY good job of pretending he didn't. For example, "Oh, your NT unit is faulty." *fetch new NT from truck, unpack it, and very carefully pack my unit into the box*. Needless to say, the replacement unit worked just as well as the original unit, and did absolutely nothing to solve my connectivity problems.

I can't believe arrogance that these people have. Actually telling their employees to lie to their customers.

Sometimes its such a mission just to apply for a ADSL connection with Telkom. Firstly i got a woman whose English was probably her 13th language. She could not understand the phrase "128 Megs of RAM" but i actually had to explain to her that "128 Megabytes of memory" is exactlty the same thing. Next, she repeatedly drops the phone, types in the wrong information and after about a good 30 minutes of trying to calm myself down on the phone, her computer somehow manages to freeze and we had to do everything all over again!!! Needless to say that i have no respect for Telkom's customer support at all...

To repeat what others have said, requires education; to challenge it, requires brains.
